The remains of 1119 at the Waukesha Gravel Pit. The car was rear ended at the Soldiers Home station on August 24 1949 by car 1143, after 1119 did the unthinkable, and backed up into the previous signal block for a missed passenger. 1143, an express inbound from Waukesha, was traveling at excessive speed and could not stop in time. 1119 was essentially a wood car with steel sheathing. Car 1143 was all steel. No one was killed, but 19 passengers on car 1119 were injured. Greyhound sold the line to Jay Maeder a week later.
