Car 1991 at the Mount Royal carhouse. The 105 cars in the 1900 class were ordered in three batches. The first group was delivered in October 1926, the second group in 1928 and the third in 1929. One difficulty with one-man cars was reversing them at wyes of which there were a few on Montreal routes. One-man cars were strictly prohibited from reversing without a man at the rear to guide the trolley pole and watch for traffic. In 1937 and 1939 several of these cars including 1991 were equipped with a reverse control system that allowed the motorman to operate the car in reverse at slow speed.
