Brooklyn & Queens
Transit
#1074 on the Brooklyn Bridge
looking towards Manhattan. The car is Brooklyn bound. Park
Row terminal is to the right at the end of the bridge. This photo
is after they dismantled Park Row Terminal structure during World War Two.
The terminal structure was straight ahead in Manhattan..that is the Tweed
Court House straight ahead low and slightly to the right, City Hall would
be to left we can't see in picture. The domed tall building is the Pulitzer
Building, also called The World Building, from 1890 to 1894 it was the
tallest building in the world (310 feet), the steeple peaking out to the
left was on top of The Tribune Building..the lat streetcarwas on March
6, 1950; departed 12:09 AM, A Boy Scout was there and played taps,
reportedly, but the terminal was a minimal structure by then-the Els were
now gone as well....Also in this picture it looks like the elevated terminal
City Hall Station of the 3rd Avenue El branch is gone, so this is 1950's.
