Brooklyn & Queens
Transit
An 8-window 700 series car
which no doubt was put into storage when the PCCs arrived in 1936, probably
being scrapped, or at least being stripped of any OK parts. BQT did
not waste a lotta stuff. A few of these OK 700s were stored in the
2d floor of the 58th St Depot (3d
Av. Bklyn) until 1942, when
they were hauled out and ran on the West End (surface) line, and the 86th
St. line during the war. They were the oldest cars running on the
system, and were in amazingly good condition until 1946, when they were
finally scrapped.
