Washington, Baltimore &

#88, from a group of second
hand cars. This car had an interesting history, according to John Merriken's
Every Hour on the Hour. It was one of a group of five car bodies purchased
from St. Louis Car Company in 1918 (they were built 10 years earlier for
the St. Louis, Monte Sano & Southern but never purchased by that
road). The WB&A added trucks, motors, hardware and eventually Tomlinson
Tightlock automatic couplers.
In 1934 all but # 88 were
stripped of their electrical equipment and wiring, demotored, and thence
used as trailers. The equipment and motors were used to motorize the Brill
200-series steel trailers, most of which survived to run on the B&A
till abandonment in 1950.
