PCC 1623 inbound on Smithfield facing the Smithfield St Bridge in front of the PandLE RR station. The trolleys were on private right of way here and on the bridge; autos are out of the picture at the very bottom. The canopy with clock to protect transferring passengers remained into the mid- or late-1960s. The PCC could be in service on the 38, 39, 40, 42, 43, 44, 47, 48, 49, or 50 lines. The Charleroi, Washington, and Castle Shannon Interurbans (and their trippers to intermediate terminals) also passed through this location
