Paul Ward's Collection
In May 1930, G.C. Kuhman,
a Brill subsidiary built a sample car for Louisville Railways similar to
the Brill Master Units that were operating in Youngstown, Ohio and Lynchburg,
Virginia. The car joined another sample built the previous year by
St. Louis Car Co. numbered
200. The 100 was more
successful than the 200 and operated right up until the end of streetcar
service in Louisville. Its last year of operation was 1948, when
after some months of inactivity, the cars were called out for a last roundup,
hauling punters to the Kentucky Derby on the 4th Avenue line.
