203 is on Route 9 - Lawrence - taken on September 18, 1932.
On Jan 24, 1933, the Commonwealth and Southern Company purchased the IPC's Springfield operation under the name Illinois Electric Power which formed the Springfield Transportation Company (STC) to take over.
On Apr 23 1933, the company split, with the STC taking over the transit operations and the Central Illinois Light Company taking over the electric power service. The STC did little more than realize that streetcar operations were not profitable and gradually converted the remaining streetcar lines to buses, with the last streetcar operating on Dec 31 1937.
IPC 203 spent its entire life in Springfield. IPC mainly moved Birney streetcars around between various properties over the ITS (usually late at night) - there were moves of Birneys from Peoria (and back) to Champaign, and from Champaign to Decatur.
