Scene of an interurban on the bridge over the Illinois Central/Michigan Central tracks in Matteson. This photo shows the elevation for the interurban bridge and the IC Matteson Union station, and the Michigan Central ground level interlocking tower.

When the IC elevated its tracks through the area in the 1920s, the interurban could not afford to replace its bridge (of course it was in financial trouble), thus hastening its demise. The Michigan Central trackage remained at ground level until the 1960 when those tracks were abandoned and torn up).
