Kankakee and Urbana Traction Company's 1922 St. Louis Car Company built demonstration double-truck interurban 242 that was purchased in 1924
The car was used between 1924 and 1926 in an unsuccessful attempt to revive the KandUT's 27-mile long passenger service from Urbana north through Thomasboro, Rantoul and Ludlow to Paxton.
After passenger service was terminated on Mar 26 1926, the streetcar was sold to the Third Avenue Railway in New York City and renumbered 1702. In 1934 the car was rebuilt with new platforms, new ends and renumbered 1250, operating until 1948.
