The Ottawa Electric Street Railway was Illinois' first electric street railway system that began operating on Aug 16 1889.
On Mar 10 1899, the Ottawa Railway Light and Power Company purchased the system, on Sep 11 1903 the system was purchased by the Northern Illinois Light and Traction Company, and in May 1923 the Illinois Power and Light Company took over. At its fullest extent, the system operated four lines.
The system was converted to buses on Aug 15 1927.
