Postcard scene of northbound 202 on Main Street at the East Street station in Monmouth in 1906.
The Rock Island Southern had a 16-mile eastern from Monmouth to Galesburg which was trolley pole operated at 600 volts.
Passenger service lasted until the early 1920s, after which electric freight service continued until 1950; however, the ends sections only survived at the end, with trackage gradually being cut back as deferred maintenance resulted in unserviceable trackage being abandoned.
