The Southern Illinois Railway and Power (SIRandP) was about a 15-mile interurban that operated from Carrier Mills through Harrisburg to Eldorado in southern Illinois and at the end was owned by the power company - Central Illinois Public Service Company (CIPSCO).
It operated both passenger and freight service mainly for the area coal mines. As was normal for most interurban sysems that were built in the early 1900s, the line had plans for further expansion which never occurred. Automobiles killed the passenger service. After abandonment, the parallel steam railroad assumed all freight service.
